Tandem Skydiving Questions

What kind of clothing should I wear for my skydive?

Loose comfortable clothing should be worn with snug fitting flat soled shoes such as runners.
This should have no hook lacing. We will give you a jumpsuit to go over your clothes for the jump.

Can I jump if I wear glasses or contact lenses?

Yes, glasses and contact lenses maybe worn during the jump. We will give you a pair of goggles to wear for your skydive which will fit over your glasses.

How long does it take to make a skydive?

From the time you arrive until the time you complete your Tandem jump, it may take a couple of hours or longer. There is paperwork to do and a briefing, followed by gearing up and then the plane ride to height. You may finish earlier but please allow at least a half a day for your jump to be completed.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If the weather is such that we are unable to jump, we may wait for it to get better. We cannot normally accurately predict the weather, but you are requested to call us about one hour prior to arriving for your jump to check the weather status. If you cannot jump due to the weather, we will reschedule your jump to another time and date.

Who will I be jumping with?

You will be jumping with one of our highly experienced Tandem Instructors who will conduct your briefing and put any of your fears at rest. Why not check out some of our a staff profiles.

Will there be others jumping at the same time as me?

There may be others in the plane jumping at the same time as you. We have two aircraft and are able to take several people for their experience at a time.

Do we land in the same place we take off from?

Yes. The plane will take off and climb to height and you will land at the same place you took off from. (Drop Zone Jumps Only). Friends and family can see you get in the plane and then enjoy the casual atmosphere until the time you land safely back on the ground.

Booking Questions

Are Bookings Required?

Usually yes but sometimes no. Walk-ups cannot be guaranteed to make a skydive and are given priority behind guests with reservations.

Is a deposit required in order to make a booking?

Yes. A non-refundable deposit of $150 is required to make a booking. This will then come off the total price of the skydive. The remainder may then be paid on the day of the jump. If paying by Bank Transfer, ensure you include your name with the payment, and make the payment at least three days before the jump to ensure it clears our bank. If paying by money order, include a note with all details.

How fit should one be in order to skydive?

We do not usually need a Doctors Certificate from you, but you need to be in good general health to be able to participate and enjoy your skydive. We reserve the right to refuse anyone based on their age, weight or health, if we believe them to be an unacceptable risk.

Are there any height or weight restrictions to make a skydive?

Yes, there are restrictions. We are able to accommodate people weighing up to 110kg for a Tandem Skydive, but this depends strictly on several variables such as fitness, BMI (Body Mass Index), and suitable weather conditions. Surcharges apply if you are over 90kg and up to 110kg.

What is your policy regarding drugs and alcohol?

Alcohol and drugs are not to have been consumed or taken, a minimum of eight hours prior to jumping.

What if I need to reschedule?

Rescheduling or postponements for jumps more than 72 hours prior to the jump may be done with no penalty. Due to staffing rosters, changes requested less than 72 hours prior to the jump may incur a rebooking/admin fee of $150 per booking.

Deposits are non refundable. If the provider (Adelaide Tandem Skydiving) is unable to complete your skydive on your requested date for reasons such as bad weather, bookings are to be rescheduled to a mutually agreed date and time that is within six months of the original booking date.

Is there a minimum age requirement to make a skydive?

To do a Tandem, from 1 Apr 22 you need to be a minimum of 16 years old with parent/guardians consent.
For AFF. (Accelerated Freefall) you also need to be a minimum of 16 years old with parent/guardians consent. There is no upper age limit but health and weight restrictions do apply (see Health and Fitness above).

Is there a pick up service in Adelaide?

Yes - We have a pick up and drop off service available from the CBD or suburbs North of the city. This is a "first come first served" service and bookings for this are essential minimum 24 hours in advance. Cost depends upon numbers. Please call to book.

Is there a minimum number of people I need to book in?

There is no minimum number for our Lower Light drop zone, but as we need to fly one of our planes specifically to Barossa or Clare Valleys, we require you to book a minimum of two people, all with Video and Photos if wanting to jump at our Barossa Valley or Clare Valley drop zones.
